According to Smart House News, Hitachi is preparing to launch a 1 Terabyte (1,000GB) Blu-ray recorder in 2008.
It's been revealed at the Harvey Norman retail conference being held in Melbourne.
There's no more detail than this. We know that several manufacturers have been working on higher capacity optical discs. This recorder would eclipse current Blu-ray storage by 20 times, though it's doubtful that such a recorder would come to the consumer market in 2008. Of course, this whisper could be interpreted as Hitachi releasing a Blu-ray and hard disc recorder, with a standard Blu-ray burner and a 1TB hard drive.
Unfortunately, there's no more information on this at present, so we'll just have to wait and see what develops.
