LG may be considering withdrawing from the plasma TV business in some markets, but it's full steam ahead in the UK, as they unveil their latest high definition plasma TVs for the British market.
The 60PF95 and 50PB65 feature "chocolate styling" not unlike the KG810 mobile phone, but there's more going on than just the styling.
The 60PF95 is a 60 inch plasma and marks LG's first 1080p model. It features 1x1 pixel matching that is supposed to provide the clearest possible image, as well as LG's XD Engine Full HD Image Processor, and touch sensitive buttons. It has two HDMI inputs.
More information? I think LG were so enamoured with the 'blade thin 98.5mm depth' chocolate design that they forgot to provide easy access to other specs like brightness, contrast, and such like.
The 50PB65 is a 50 inch "HD Ready" TV (read, 720p/1080i) featuring the same blade thin, chocolate design. It has a 15,000:1 contrast ratio and Clear Filter Pro that replaces the traditional glass filter with a single thin film filter and promises to eliminate reflection and glare while improving brightness by 30%. It also has two HDMI inputs.
LG has also launched two PC55 HD-ready screens, available in 42 and 50 inch sizes. Information is scarce, except that it shares the same published characteristics as the PB65 above.
Finally, LG has updated last year's MW-71PY1M 71-inch plasma screen, also featuring 1080p HD, the XD Engine, and PC input.
When more technical rather than aesthetic details are easily available, we'll let you know, as with exact prices and availability.
