Myleene Klass to star in Sky HD's new test card

sky_hd_test_card_myleeene_klass.jpg"I'm a Celebrity" jungle babe Myleene Klass is to star in Sky HD's 21st century version of the iconic test card. The original "Test Card F", featuring 8-year-old Carole Hersee, has been faithfully recreated, complete with Klass wearing a red dress and Alice band, and playing noughts and crosses against a toy clown. No bikinis here, sorry lads.

In Sky's updated version of the test card, Myleene will step out of the frame and offer a 10-minute explanation of high definition TV to Sky customers.

Chris Johns, Sky's chief engineer, said: "Myleene looked great in the jungle and looks even better in HD. With her intelligent presenting style she was the perfect choice to become the face of the test card for the 21st century.

"We hope that our Sky HD test card will become as iconic as the original and create a place for Myleene Klass in the television hall of fame," he continued.

The new card, featuring Myleene Klass, will appear to HD customers on Sky channel 268 from tomorrow, 22nd May.

A couple of things perplex me a little, though.

In the age of PVR, who is likely to be watching the test card at the few times that Sky HD is off the air?

And why do customers who already have Sky HD need a tutorial on what high definition is?

I will be PVRing it of course and that's the reason why its at that time of night.

I think its a fantastic idea, cheap way of setting up your tv to your standards.

Remember still a lot of TV sets are set to default.

I'd expect this is a forerunner for Sky to be pushing working HD demo systems onto retailers, running the test card as an instore demo channel.
