Pioneer has announced that its first European Blu-ray player, the BDP-LX70, will be available from June.
It offers full 1080p playback and can handle 24fps material - something that's becoming more important to discerning home movie fans who want to see movies on disc simulate the original film version.
Audio wise, the player supports Dolby TrueHD.
The player is DLNA compatible, making it possible to stream video and audio from a computer or server via an Ethernet network.
As for build quality, the unit has a double-layer chassis, delivering mechanical stability and interference-free disc playback. The main circuit, power supply, Blu-ray drive and audio circuits are sealed for mechanical strength, and all terminals are gold plated.
An HDMI output with the Consumer Electronics Control system means that the player can be connected to a Pioneer TV and both devices controlled from a single remote control.
Interestingly, with a month to go before the player is launched, Pioneer has announced that they will be introducing a HD Audio Bitstream output player "in the near future" to replace this model. That's their wording, and it doesn't exactly inspire you to buy something that's effectively been made obsolete before it's even launched, does it?
Price and exact availability to be confirmed.

GREAT ! another combo player on the market? NO ! why do manufacturers do this ? Videophiles everywhere are waiting with less and less patience for the war between Blu Ray and HD dvd to end !
At the end of this , I think that Ill just go to SKY and get HD content from them . Oh i have just done it !
Come on manufacturers ! give the people what they want !
