Pioneer has put out a rather vague news item on its website announcing the imminent arrival of new plasma TVs in Europe.
Boldly proclaiming that they're "the world's best flat screen TVs" (doesn't every manufacturer say that?), Pioneer boast that the line-up will offer "seeing and hearing like never before’; with the deepest levels of black and high-grade audio."
Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot more information about them at present, even though the full HD sets are due to ship in June. Read on for the few specs we do have.
Pioneer's new full high definition plasma TVs will be available from September in 50 and 60 inch sizes, with or without their Digital Colour Filter III Plus technology, and featuring a contrast ratio of 20,.000:1 and resolution of 1,920 x 1,080.
They'll also introduce a range of XGA plasmas, in 42 and 50 inch sizes, in high-end, standard, and Aluminium Surround versions, all with a contrast ratio of 16,000:1, and a screen resolution of between 1,024 x 768 and 1,365 x 768. These will be available from June.
That's all the information we have at present. No model numbers, no pricing, no specific availability dates. Suffice it to say that Pioneer are pushing ahead with plasma.
