Taiwanese disc maker RiData has announced that it plans to begin mass-producing rewritable HD DVD and Blu-ray discs in the third quarter of this year.
According to Ritek, RiData's parent company, disc prices will remain high until other disc manufacturers also increase their production volumes.
Blu-ray rewritable discs will have a higher cost of manufacture than HD DVDs, at around $5 per disc.
