Set your PVR – Firewall, Sky Movies HD2, Saturday, 8pm

Firewall.jpgAfter the recent HD premiere of Spike Lee’s tightly plotted heist movie Inside Man comes this high-tech thriller that endeavours to make an action hero out of Harrison Ford once again. Now in his mid 60s, and more than ten years since running around as Dr Richard Kimble or Jack Ryan, Ford plays Jack Stanfield, a Seattle bank security expert whose family is kidnapped.

Stanfield is coerced by the devious Bill Cox (Paul Bettany, in the obligatory British bad guy role) to use his skills to grab $100m from the bank where he works.

UK director Richard Loncraine is better known for the likes of Wimbledon (also starring Bettany) and most of the reviews for Firewall pointed out its various plot incongruities and rather stale formula that makes it seem like you’ve seen this story many times before.

It’s probably more enjoyable than having your identity stolen, though, and it does have an impressive cast. It includes Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, X-Files), Mary Lynn Rajskub (who plays Chloe O’Brian in 24), Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine), Virginia Madsen (Candyman, Sideways) and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown, Mulholland Drive).
