To celebrate Sky HD's first birthday in style, Sky has announced a major upgrade to the amount and quality of its high definition service.
Sky has secured HD films from all the major Hollywood studios, for screening on Sky Movies HD1 and HD2.
Movies from Warner Bros. Entertainment includes Syriana, V for Vendetta, and Firewall.
Sky has also been working to get as many high definition programmes as possible, confirming that from next year, 90% of original commissions for Sky One will be made in HD.
In addition, by Christmas 2007, around two-thirds of all prime-time shows on Sky One will be available in high definition - nearly double what was available at Christmas 2006 (thanks for picking up my previous error, Richard).
Sky Arts HD will continue to build on its HD line-up with all programmes commissioned for the channel being made in HD this year.

I think you mean to say that by Christmas 2007, Sky will have 2/3 of its programming on Sky One in HD, more than at Christmas 2006.
Argh. This is what it said in the press release. I thought maybe Sky might be giving themselves a long lead time with the Xmas '08, but I didn't think through the obvious fact that we haven't had Christmas '07 yet. Sorry!
