ViewSonic continue to push out "value" high definition displays with the introduction of their VX2435wm 24 inch HD ready LCD monitor.
From their description, it seems that this monitor is being aimed more at the HD gamer or those wishing to use the screen with their PC for viewing high definition disc content. Having said that, it does come with the full complement of HDMI, component, S-video, composite, audio, and PC connectors.
The display offers a contrast ratio of 1000:1, 500cd/m2 brightness, and and 8ms response rate, with a viewing angle of 176 degrees all round. It features an integrated smart colour engine which is supposed to optimise the colour and skin tone of games, movies, text and photos. Its PC monitor background is given away by its 16:10 aspect ratio - yep, you'll be getting black bars top and bottom of all your widescreen TV or movies, but on the plus side, it does give you up to 1,920 x 1,200 of PC resolution to play with.
As a monitor, there's no built in TV tuner, so if you want to use it as a TV you'll need to plug your Sky box or equivalent in.
It's fully Windows Vista certified, and is decked out in glossy piano-black finish. It will be available in June, priced £534.
