A high-def MacBook Pro? Maybe in 2008
According to Think Secret, there'll be no HD-friendly resolutions available on the next generation of MacBook Pros. Sources are reporting that it will offer the same 1,680x1,050 resolution as current models, with no option to upgrade to 1,920x1,200, and no model larger than 17 inch.
It may well be 2008 before an HD laptop emerges from Apple, though there may be software-based hope in the form of Leopard, Apple's next release of OS X. This will apparently allow the operating system's interface to be scaled independently of the native resolution of the hardware display it's shown on. That's effectively the principle behind the usability "Zoom" function, so it wouldn't be hard to shift it into reverse, and zoom out to the required resolution, at the possible expense of fine detail.

Guess Think Secret was wrong as they have relased a 17" option @ 1920 x 1080.
