Musically, July and August means the Proms. It's the 80th anniversary year of the BBC's partnership with the Proms. There are many new works (including 12 BBC commissions), unparalleled opportunities for talented young performers as well as more ways than ever for a new generation to get involved. BBC HD will simulcast all of the BBC ONE and BBC TWO Proms, spanning eight centuries of music, during the two month season.
BBC HD will also screen an exclusive Tony Bennett concert - details to be confirmed - as well as highlights of the T in the Park festival in July.
Cookery programming is about to get the high-def treatment, as BBC2's "Indian Food Made Easy" comes to BBC HD. In this brand new series, food writer and Chef Anjum Anand is on a mission to show exactly how simple it is to cook delicious, healthy Indian food.
In August, Heroes screens in widescreen HD. An epic drama chronicling the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary powers, it is one of the highest-rated programmes on US network television.
Finally, in "Great British Journeys", Renowned geographer and writer Nick Crane takes on eight extraordinary adventures across Great Britain.
