JVC has just unveiled one of the world's largest TVs. Its 110-inch rear-projection set boasts full 1080p high definition resolution, and uses D-ILA technology to enhance the picture. It features a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as JVC's Genessa processor which helps to remove jagged edges and noise, and fine-tunes colour output to 14-bit precision.
It also has dual HDMI inputs, component, VGA, and Japan's D4 format, as well as S-video and RCA inputs. It has two integrated 10W speakers, analogue and digital TV tuners, and FireWire ports for connecting up video cameras and other equipment via high-speed link.
So big and heavy is the set, at 728lbs, that the house it's being installed into may require extra reinforcement. Presumably this isn't one for wall mounting!
Orders will be taken for the HD110-MH80 in July, though it won't ship until October. No word on when or if it will make it across to Europe. It's expected to retail for at least £25,000.
Oh, and yes, that tiny grey rectangle to the bottom right of the picture is the remote control unit. Scared yet?
