At their fourth quarter earnings conference call, the independent film studio Lionsgate talked about the success they've had with the Blu-ray high definition disc format.
They currently hold 11% of the Blu-ray market compared to just 6% of the DVD market, thanks to strong title support. They currently have 28 titles either already released, or dated for release, with up to 50 titles expected by the end of the year.
They predict that Blu-ray market share will increase this year, despite Universal's decision to stick with HD DVD, with it eventually emerging as the single format for HD film distribution.
