With Pace embarking on own-branded set top boxes, and business doing well, they've decided to put their equipment through more rigorous testing to ensure that it works with a wide variety of other consumer electronics equipment.
As well as testing implementation of HDMI and HDCP on its set top boxes, it now plans to link up with Simplay Labs, which independently tests equipment for interoperability with a wide variety of high definition equipment.
Pace Micro Technology Americas Vice President of Product Development, Bruce Gureck, said, “As more and more HDMI products are coming to market, manufacturers are now including multiple HDMI ports on HDTVs and set-top boxes must be able to communicate properly with all of them. We are partnering with Simplay Labs to expand our field of testing so we will have a more effective means of getting a representative sample of all of the CE equipment in the market. To us and to cable operators, Simplay Labs represents the consumer environment, and is emerging as the new standard for CE device testing.”
Other manufacturers who have already received certification for some of their equipment include JVC and Samsung
