Joseph Taylor, a Vice President at Panasonic in the USA, has spoken to TWICE magazine, giving a "politically incorrect" answer to the format war: "I think the battle is over. I think Blu-ray has won."
His reasoning is two-fold.
Firstly, most content providers have selected Blu-ray.
Secondly, most consumers are buying Blu-ray.
Of course, it depends who you ask - and which side they support - as to just how well either format is doing, but there are signs that Blu-ray has an advantage.
Blockbuster has chosen Blu-ray over HD DVD, Sony is talking up the format, and some content producers believe Blu-ray is the best option. Of course, it's still an opinion, and the HD DVD Promotions Group have their own views, but is the writing on the wall for HD DVD?
