Pirates of the Caribbean released on Blu-ray with interactive features

070528-pirates-of-the-caribbean-at-worlds-end.jpgWalt Disney Studios has announced that the summer blockbuster, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, will be released in Blu-ray on December 4th.

The two-disc 75GB Blu-ray set features an armada of bonus material including extensive behind the scenes content and the Blu-ray exclusive, Enter the Maelstrom – a BD-Java feature that apparently takes Blu-ray interactivity to a new level.

The featurette offers an extensive interactive look at the climatic scene of the film and the return of the Jolly Roger host, who navigates users through animated menus with state-of-the-art BD-Java enabled artificial intelligence. Users are guided through pirate waters with humorous commentary responding to actions.

The film starring Johnny Depp, Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom will output in Full HD 1080p content with 7.1 channel uncompressed surround sound. The disc set also features all standard DVD bonus material re-mastered in high-definition.
