Toshiba has announced the first notebook PC in the US to feature an HD-DVD-R optical drive with full 1080p playback. The Qosimo G45-AV860 is a cutting edge audio and video notebook computer that also includes a 17in widescreen HD display and Dolby surround sound technology.
With its high-definition optical drive, the notebook offers a state-of-the-art multimedia device that can burn up to 30GB of data, including home videos, entire photo albums and music libraries onto a single HD-DVD-R disc. And, as well as storing media, the optical drive also plays HD-DVD content at full resolution.
The enhanced technology allows high-definition users a new level of interactivity with features such as in-movie commentary and downloadable Internet content including HD movie trailers and music videos. There are standard 1GB Ethernet and wireless connections to make it quicker and easier to access Internet content.
The notebook PC also comes with four Harmon Kardon stereo speakers, an integrated subwoofer, a 1-bit digital amplifier and Dolby Home Theatre Technology.
The Qosimo G45-AV860 is available in the States for around $3,500 but there’s no confirmation of a UK release just yet.
