Warner Home Video offered a sneak preview of its debut made-for-DVD HD release, Return to House on the Haunted Hill, at the Home Media Expo in the US.
The title will feature some of the most advanced interactive features yet for a HD-DVD or Blu-ray disc. This includes choosing from 96 different combinations of story lines - plot questions arise at various points in the film and the answers given determine the course of events that follows.
“Sometimes you can choose to watch what’s happening with the people downstairs, and sometimes you can watch to see the people upstairs,” said Steve Nickerson, senior VP worldwide for high-definition. “It’s a very interesting thing, and it will allow for repeat viewing.”
Warner also showed off its first web-enabled offerings on HD-DVD titles. With 300, Warner will be selling film related merchandise via disc for the first time – using their remote viewers can order wallpaper and ringtones through their mobile phones.
As its high-definition titles get more complex, Warner has decided to stock many of its releases with instructional manuals.
