Spartan battle epic, 300, has been confirmed as the fastest and highest selling high-definition DVD ever. The film , which is available on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD, has shifted more than 250,000 copies since its release late last month.
It’s another high-definition milestone for Warner Home Video, which was also the first studio to break the 100,000 mark with The Departed. Warner can now claim six of the top ten selling high-definition titles including Superman Returns, Batman Begins and Happy Feet.
Warner also has the highest grossing HD dual format release with the BBC’s Planet Earth.
President of Warner Home Video Ron Sanders said, “300 is an amazing film, and the high definition sales we are seeing underscores the positive business benefits of supporting both HD DVD and Blu-ray. This phenomenal response to 300 is the latest proof that our approach makes the most sense in today's market and has enabled Warner Home Video to continue to lead the market in high definition sales."
