The BBC has just announced some upcoming highlights for Autumn 2007 appearing on its high definition channel.
Football returns to the BBC with Match of the Day coverage of several European qualifiers:
* On Saturday 8th September, England take on Israel.
* Wednesday 12th September sees England play Russia.
* On Saturday 13th October, England play Estonia.
The Last Night of the Proms will be broadcast in high definition, live from the Royal Albert Hall, on Saturday 8th September.
Strictly Come Dancing returns in the autumn, along with the second series of Robin Hood.
Comedy is seen to with the four "Fairy Tales" dramas: Rapunzel, Billy Goat, Cinderella, and The Emperor's New Clothes, starring such household names as Lee Ingleby, Shaun Williamson, Geraldine James, James Nesbitt, Bernard Hill, Paul Nicholls, and Maxine Peake.
Michael Palin will be trekking around 20 Central and Eastern European countries in his "New Europe" series. "Although much closer to home, many of these places are as engaging and mysterious as anywhere Palin has been on his journeys further afield."
Nick Crane takes some "Great British Journeys", travelling by foot, horse and bicycle through Britain’s wildest landscapes, and following in the footsteps of eight of our greatest indigenous explorers.
"India" sees Sanjeev Bhaskar travelling around the country, exploring aspects of today's India and making an emotional journey to his father's former home, now in Pakistan.
Additionally, Michael Wood tells "The Story of India", in a colourful series that tells India's dramatic story, featuring some of the greatest characters in history including: Buddha, Alexander the Great, Ghandi, and Nehru.
"Ganges" is a landmark series exploring how this mighty river has shaped the wildlife, culture and beliefs of the subcontinent. Flowing some 1,500 miles from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal, the Ganges sustains iconic animals such as elephants, tigers and rhino, as well as more unusual creatures including blind river dolphins and tree-climbing deer. The series also shows the influence the river has on people's everyday lives.
"Pakistan Adventure" features Saira Kahn embarking on a 3,000-mile journey of discovery across the country, exploring its culture, religion, history, and future.
Also returning in high definition are the series "Saxondale", "After You've Gone", "Gavin and Stacey", plus more new comedy drama with "The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle", starring Jennifer Saunders, and "The Dinner Party".
Drama continues with "The Tudors", written by Michael Hirst, and "Silent Witness", as well as the ongoing hit drama "Heroes".
Also coming in high definition is "The Antiques Roadshow", "Who Do You Think You Are?" - featuring celebrities including Graham Norton, John Hurt, MP Boris Johnson, and Natasha Kaplinsky - and "Nureyev: From Russia with Love"
