US cable network, HDNet, has struck a deal with the BBC for the high-definition rights of the science fiction series, Torchwood.
The Dr. Who spin off series created by Russell T Davies is set in Cardiff and follows Captain Jack Harkness and his team of investigators as they hunt alien technology to solve crime.
"This is certainly a Russell T Davies signature show," said Mark Cuban, president and co-founder of HDNet. "Torchwood explores adult themes and doesn't shy away from anything. Whether it's the diverse storylines or the hero's ambivalence to sexual boundaries, this is not your typical show, and I love it."

The BBC could have made millions if the new Dr. Who series were made in HD (high definition).
Shows how incompetent the BBC is.
I just hope that they create 1920x1080p resolution instead of the useless 1280x720p and 1920x1080i resolution with HD Freeview products in 2008.
They should also create excellent picture and HD Freview products. For example HD Freeview, PVR, dual recorder; Blu-ray and HD DVD player. It should also have upscales/upconverts SD (non-HD - also from SKY and Virgin (NTL/Telewest) standard boxes) and HD to 720p, 1080i and 1080p with an excellent video upscaler (create excellent picture, HD sound (Dolby Digital Plus, True-HD and DTS-HD) and non-HD sound (5.1,6.1,7.1,Prologic IIx, DTS and DTS).
