Kodak has announced three new Easyshare digital cameras, primarily designed for still photography but all able to shoot 720p footage at 30fps.
The V1253 and V1233 Zoom are both 12 megapixel cameras with 3x optical zoom, face detection technology, digital image stabilisation, and a 16:9 aspect ratio, with up to a 3.1-inch LCD screen.
The Z812 IS Camera is 8 megapixel, with 12x optical zoom, 16:9 aspect ratio, image stabilisation, up to 3200 ISO, face detection, and a smart scene mode.
Also available will be the Easyshare HDTV dock for connecting the camera and viewing pictures and movies on a high definition TV.
Prices: £299 for the V1253, £249 for the V1233, £299 for the Z812 IS, and £99 for the dock, all coming from September.
No serious high definition movie maker is going to use a stills camera of this price for shooting HD footage, but for the consumer it offers a cheap way in to the wonders of shooting at higher resolutions.
