LG has announced a range of new "Design Art" high definition LCD televisions, featuring distinctive shapes as well as full HD functionality.
The LF75 and LB75 TVs have a unique ring-shaped supporter, completely hidden speakers, and a wave-inspired design at the bottom of the panel. Yes, I know it all sounds a bit arty, but I think that's the point — not everyone wants simple rectangular or modestly curved AV equipment.
LG hasn't moved away from the fairly standard glossy black finish, though the 32-inch model has a 7.9cm thin frame.
Specifications wise, the LF75 comes in 37 and 42-inch screen sizes, featuring full 1080p resolution and 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The LB75 "supports 1080p", which suggests a lower resolution (detailed specs aren't readily available yet), with a contrast ratio of 8,000:1 on the 32-inch model and 5,000:1 on the 26-inch model.
Other features on the sets include LG's XD Engine, designed to create crystal clear images from any source, and the Intelligent Eye technology which optimises brightness and contrast by measuring ambient light in the room.
We'll give more details, availability and pricing as it's available.
