IFA 2007: Samsung launches first high definition digital camcorder: VP-HMX10C
Samsung has unveiled its first high definition digital camcorder, the VP-HMX10C, offering 720p recording in a compact design and featuring a 2.7-inch high-resolution touch panel LCD screen.
It features a 1/4.5" CMOS image sensor, own brand lens, up to 10x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom, image stabilisation, minimum light for shooting of 15 Lux, 16:9 aspect ratio, 1,280 x 720 resolution, able to film 720p at 50fps as well as standard definition at 720 x 576/50p.
Footage is captured either on the built-in 8GB of memory, or additional SD/SDHC/MMC+ flash memory. Various recording modes offer between 45m and 90m of high definition recording, or up to 6 hours of standard definition recording, and the battery life is 90 minutes.
The camcorder boasts a three-second quick start mode, iCheck for reporting on battery time and memory capacity, and with a body designed to fit comfortably into the hand. It features a unique swivel grip, able to rotate up to 135 degrees, allowing for high and low angle filming.
The VP-HMX10C, along with Samsung's two new standard definition camcorders (VP-MX10A, VP-DX10), will be available in the autumn, prices to be confirmed.
