Samsung has announced details of its new premium range of high definition LCD TVs: the F9 Series, featuring the company's new LED Smart lighting technology.
LED Smart lighting works by using multiple LED backlight units, which are adjusted "intuitively" based on the TV signal to produce varying brightness levels across the display, and offering a claimed dynamic contrast ratio of 500,000 (five hundred thousand) to one.
If that weren't enough, Samsung claims that their TVs are amongst the most environmentally friendly around, as they use LED technology to achieve over 30% reduction in power usage.
The F9 Series initially comes in two sizes: 52 and 70 inch. Other features include full HD 1080p resolution, Wide Colour Enhancer to deliver more vivid colours, deeper blacks, and sharper images, a brightness of either 450 or 500:1, and up to three HDMI 1.3 ports.
Availability and pricing to be confirmed.
