The latest HD disc format statistic, for those of you avidly watching the Blu-ray versus HD DVD soap opera, comes from Netflix - the States' largest online DVD rental service - whose CEO, Reed Hastings, has said that customer demand for HD DVD and Blu-ray discs is about equal.
"We carry all the Blu-ray titles and we carry all the HD DVD, so we're agnostic. And we think the solution in that market is to have the studios publish on both," he said, adding that overall demand for high definition discs was still around 1% of total rentals.
This echoes statements he made last month calling stalemate in the format war.
