Sony plans to introduce the world’s first HD video Walkman, featuring a compact, portable device that can play both high-definition HDV video and standard mini DV tapes.
The GV-HD700 features a 7in widescreen LCD with WVGA resolution for displaying video and still images. There’s a all-scan function that ensures 100% of the recorded frame area is displayed on screen and it can also record HDV and DV signals from an external source for use as a back up as well as transfer still images from tape to memory Stick media cards.
For enhanced usability, you can customise the LCD screen by storing six set ups and any of the 14 most used functions can be controlled using only three buttons.
Connectivity includes multiple ports for recording and playing tapes from a range of sources, and an HDMI output that can be connected to a compatible HDTV or monitor.
The device also supports x.v.Color ™ technology, which nearly doubles the data range of colors that can be displayed on compliant displays including Sony’s Bravia ® range of LCDs.
The GV-HD700 will be available in the US from September and we’ll keep you posted on details of its worldwide release
