Hitachi has apparently developed a 1.9mm ultra slim 32in LCD HDTV to rival those that were shown by Sharp at this year’s IFA exhibition in Berlin.
The prototype will be unveiled at the CEATC Japan 2007 exhibition, which begins October 2nd. The company plans to start volume production on the screens by 2009. Sharps prototype model was a larger 52in screen and its slimmest part was 2cm – so Hitachi can claim slimline rights by a millimetre.
Also at the CEATAC Japan 2007, Sony is expected to preview its OLED TV, which also boast slimness as one of its features. The company announced it will release OLED TV by the end of the year.
