One of the main failings of the BH100 (pictured), LG's first-generation dual-format high definition disc player — apart from the price — was its inability to handle all of HD DVDs interactive features. It caused quite a fuss at CES this year.
They may have redeemed themselves a little with their second generation model, logically named the BH200.
Coming to the States in mid-October, it features both BD-Java and HDi technology, so both Blu-ray and HD DVD fans should be able to get the most from their discs, presuming they're prepared to take a hit in the wallet.
With dedicated single-format players now falling fairly significantly in price, how LG can justify the $1,000 price tag is a little perplexing.
