Pioneer announce UK release date of Kuro plasma HDTVs
Pioneer has announced the UK launch date of its latest Kuro Full HD plasmas. The launch will be marked at a star studded ‘Black Screen Party’ at Claridges on September 25th.
The Kuro, which simply means black in Japanese, is a 1080p compatible plasma display that’s available in 50in and 60in screen sizes. It was recently voted best plasma in Europe and features state of the art technology, which claims to produce 80% deeper black levels than previously possible.
Heidi Johnson-Cash, general manager of marketing for Pioneers, explained the importance of deep blacks, “In the art world, a plain white canvas represents a blank slate waiting for an artist to create. In the world of television, a black screen is a similarly blank canvas ready for content to be displayed. Pioneer engineers reached a significant achievement by creating black levels that are 80% deeper than previously possible - defining the ultimate “blank canvas” ready for high definition movies, television and sporting events.”
We’re still not sure of pricing but as a flagship model, don’t expect it to come cheap.
