US consumers prefer a 46in Full HD LCD to a 50in Full HD plasma, according to a survey carried out by Displaybank.
After questioning 673 website visitors on their preference between the two different sized screens featuring rival technologies, around two thirds (65.8%) nominated the 46in LCD.
The survey also proposes a gap between the two screens – 46in Full HD LCD: 3.2m won/$3,430, 50in Full HD plasma: 2.5m won/$2,680 – and as a result, 47.8% of respondents still prefer the 46in LCD despite the price difference.
This could be down to aggressive marketing activities for LCD TVs and consumer recognition of a premium on Full HD models to a certain extent.
