Blu-ray discs top one million in Europe, BDA claims three-quarters of market
More statistics to bamboozle you. This time, the Blu-ray Disc Association in Europe has announced that over one million Blu-ray movie discs have been sold here, constituting 73% of all high definition films sold.
Combined with Blu-ray games (in other words, PS3 titles) the number of discs sold has exceeded 21 million units, though that's a rather unfair statistic to include in the ongoing battle with HD DVD, as Microsoft's Xbox 360 doesn't use high definition discs for games.
Best selling titles were 300, Spider-Man 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
These statistics come courtesy of "industry sales data", which is incredibly vague and unhelpful. Spin those discs, lads, spin those discs.
