Venturer SHD7001: affordable HD DVD player launching in UK after Christmas

Back in August we looked at Venturer's SHD7000 budget HD DVD player on show at the IFA exhibition. Due to be launched in Europe this year, I'm not quite sure what's happened to that model.
However, hope is on the horizon for anyone wanting a lower cost HD DVD player. Venturer will launch their SHD7001 — which I'm assured has merely cosmetic changes from the elusive SHD7000 — at the end of December. Not great if you want it for Christmas, but never mind.
The technical specifications are the same, so if you want a 1080p-capable player, don't buy the Venturer. It'll happily handle 720p and 1080i high definition, as well as upscaling standard definition content via HDMI. Audio-wise, it handles Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, and DTS HD (core only).
As interactivity is mandatory for all HD DVD players, it also features an Ethernet connection for home networking, plus a range of other analogue and digital outputs.
It will be available exclusively from QVC (I'll let you make your own mind up whether this is a good thing or not) from 29th December. Though there's no price attached to the player at present, I'd expect it to retail at under £200. It will come bundled with two HD DVDs (Hulk and Troy), and an HDMI cable.
