Queen's Speech and uninterrupted Casino Royale come to Sky Movies in high definition

skyhd.jpgSky has nabbed two high definition treats for Christmas Day afternoon on Sky Movies 2 HD.

First up, and marking the 50th anniversary on television, the Queen's Speech will be broadcast at 3pm.

Following that, at 3.10pm, comes uninterrupted James Bond, with the UK premiere of Casino Royale. Yes, that's right, no irritating Boxing Day sales ads or indegestion tablet sponsorship deals to muck things up — just pure 007 in high-def.

Director of Sky Movies, Ian Lewis said, “Over the years, the Queen’s speech has become a Christmas institution that not only looks back on the previous 12 months but also forward to the future. As Britain is shaping the future of television with millions of HD-ready television sets already in British homes, we felt that it would be appropriate to celebrate Her Majesty’s 50th Christmas Message by broadcasting it in high definition."

Hi Patrick,

Yes, I saw that after I'd published the article. I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC have produced it this year - I believe that the ITV and BBC take it in turns to produce the Queen's Speech.
