Microvision, who makes light-scanning technologies for display and imaging products, will show off their latest innovation at CES this year.
Their prototype, codenamed SHOW, is a pico projector intended for mobile devices, and is based upon their PicoP display engine.
The PDA-sized, fully self-contained, battery operated, full-colour laser projector will allow images from between 12 and 100 inches in size to be projected, with the image always in focus.
Currently, the prototype isn't high definition, able to project a standard widescreen DVD quality 848 x 480 pixel image. However, it's over five times the resolution of existing QVGA projectors, so could lead the way to miniature high definition projectors in the future.
Additionally, the prototype boasts up to two-and-a-half hours of battery life, meaning a full-length film can be watched without recharging the device.
Commercial products utilising Microvision's new technology are expected some time in the second half of 2008.

When they get the resolution up these things are going to rock!
