Philips has shown off its latest Blu-ray player boasting additional interactive functionality. The BDP7200 incorporates BonusView (which seems to be Philips' name for BD-J functionality) and is supposed to "optimise the complete HD experience".
The full 1080p player includes standard DVD upscaling, multi-channel audio decoding, digital audio outs, HDMI, Deep Colour, 24p processing, and the full BD-J specification which means picture-in-picture and other enhancements.
There's not a whole lot more information about the player at present, so I can't tell if it's just Profile 1.1 compliant, or it features additional connectivity and storage to make it a Profile 2.0 player.
It's due out in April, with a US price of $349. We'll keep you posted on how it makes it across the pond.

I was under the impression "BonusView" is the official new name for Profile 1.1 features.
You're probably right, Colin. I've spent so much time looking at proprietary names for the same things that I just presumed it was Philips trying to be clever.
