Sanyo has expanded its XACTI line of compact camcorders with the introduction of the HD700 pocket-sized high definition camcorder, able to shoot in 720p resolution onto SD or SDHC memory cards.
It features Sanyo's new optical processing engine which can process images quickly with lower power consumption - just four watts of power in fact, made possible by combining two engine chips into one miniaturised fast-processing image engine.
It uses the AVCHD format for recording, can capture 7.1 megapixel stills, 5x optical zoom, 2.7 inch widescreen display, and is OS X compatible. It comes with a copy of Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0.
Other features include image stabilisation, fast startup (just over one second), super macro mode, docking station with HDMI out, and remote control.
It's available in the US now, in silver, red, and brown variants, priced at $599.99.
