Sony has introduced its new Sound Wall RHT-S10 home theatre stand which includes an integral 5.1 channel surround sound system.
The Sound Wall is Sony's first 5.1 channel system offering built-in speakers, amplifier, and subwoofer, in a slim speaker package. It's then attached to a free-standing wall facade that allows a TV to be mounted on it.
Wires are hidden behind the "wall" and connected to an integrated AV rack anchored at the base of the media stand.
Audio wise, it offers 350 total watts of power, features an S-Master digital amplifier, and S-Force Pro front surround sound technology which generates realistic surround sound without the need for physical placement of rear speakers.
The unit also features dual HDMI inputs, support for 1080p and "24p True Cinema" sources, plus four digital and two analogue audio inputs, and subwoofer output.
Various networking options are also available, including the BRAVIA Sync for use with Sony's range of TVs, and the Digital Media Port which allows for connection of other media devices.
Available from the spring, price and locations to be confirmed.
