RITEK exhibits two-format double-sided high definition disc
Undeterred by Warner killing Total HD, RITEK has shown off its own hybrid disc format.
RITEK's new optical disc features a Blu-ray layer on one side and an HD DVD layer on the other. Unfortunately, these discs would likely be significantly more expensive to produce, and thus be unlikely to be adopted by the studios.
Had the format war still been in stalemate, or had a number of studios committed to producing titles on both HD DVD and Blu-ray, then discs such as this, and Total HD, may have had a future. I can't see it being a commercial success now.
