According to a "well-informed insider", Sony could be bringing out a slimmer PS3 in the autumn this year. That would fit in quite nicely with the news of their smaller read/write Blu-ray laser, though of course it takes more than that to make a smaller console.
PSPSPS.tv speculates that, if the rumours are true, Sony may also bundle a much larger hard drive, which of course would help if Sony continue to push for digital downloads as well as Blu-ray superiority.
It could also make the whole device a lot more attractive to those considering it as an all-round home entertainment hub (which is what Sony has always touted it as) rather than purely a games console.
