Sony to launch BDP-S350 and BDP-S550 Blu-ray players
Sony has announced two new Blu-ray players for the US market, the BDP-S350 and BDP-S550.
Both will eventually offer full Profile 1.1 support, which includes picture-in-picture compatibility, and BD Live, which gets you online features. However, the BDP-S350 will launch in the summer, before the firmware is ready, thus necessitating a firmware upgrade down the line. The BDP-S550 will come in the autumn.
Both feature 24p output, 1080p, support for 7.1-channel Dolby TrueHD and Digital Plus, dts-HD and Master Audio, with the BDP-S550 also offering dts-HD and dts-HD Master Audio decoding.
The BDP-S350 will retail for $400, with the BDP-S550 coming in at $500, though there's no word on UK prices or exact launch dates yet.
