Good news for British tennis fans -- the BBC has secured rights to broadcast the Wimbledon tennis championships for the next seven years (a five year extension on the current contract).
It means that the BBC are more inclined to invest technology in getting the Championships out to the viewing public, via regular and digital TV, BBC iPlayer, and mobile.
The new agreement ensures that Centre and Number One courts will be provided in high definition on the BBC HD channel.
"The BBC's Wimbledon coverage will range from High Definition transmissions from the show courts and greater choice of live action than ever before," said Roger Mosey, BBC Director of Sport.

That is good news. Wimbledon looks great in HD. Though I have some reservations.
Last year the BBC showed centre and No. 1 courts in HD, but did not do the studio commentary in HD. If they can do it for Football with Gary Lineker they can do it for Wimbledon.
At last years final the picture abruptly changed from HD to SD for the post match interviews. This was shoddy, though it clearly showed how crap SD is compared to HD.
I just hope the BBC steps up to the plate (to use an Americanism) and does the same justice to Tennis that it dies to Football.
