Onkyo unveils HTX-22HD high definition receiver with "Surround Sensation"

Onkyo must be on a roll. No sooner have they pushed out three AV units then along comes a 2.1 receiver boasting "Surround Sensation".
"Surround Sensation" I just about hear you mutter? If you haven't been keeping up with advances in sound technology, and the silly names given to them once perfected, then allow me to explain.
Surround Sensation is one of DTS's latest algorithms, designed to deliver virtual 5.1-channel surround sound using just two speakers and a subwoofer. It improves three key areas: dialogue clarity, sound stage expansion, and bass enhancement, and Onkyo's HTX-22HD is the first receiver to incorporate the technology.
The system also shares many of the same features as their other receivers, including two HDMI inputs and one output, an onboard decoder for Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD, Vector Linear Shaping Technology, Audyssey 2EQ set-up system plus Dynamic EQ, and Remote Interactive over HDMI.
In addition, if you want the genuine surround experience, an additional three speakers can be easily added.
The Onkyo HTX-22HD surround system costs £300, with the optional SKS-11 centre/surround package available for £100. Available from next month.
