Samsung has announced that it has revised its Blu-ray hardware sales target, from 400bn Korean won (£ 0.2bn) this year to one trillion Korean won (£ 0.5bn) by 2010.
Jun Dong-soo, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Digital AV Division, said, "In line with increasing penetration of high definition TV sets, the overall Blu-ray market will achieve an average annual growth of 80 percent by 2012 with 51 million sold a year by that time."
Samsung is due to launch its fourth generation Blu-ray player in June, and has plans for a massive marketing drive to promote its products, including bundling them together with other hardware.
