Warner Brothers has said that it plans to release Blu-ray titles with interactive features by the end of the year.
Features could include a search engine, email reminders, and ringtones.
"I think it has the ability to compete (with MySpace and YouTube) for a user's time because you are taking them online and you're able to create a community that we have never been able to do before," Darcy Antonellis, president of Warner's technical operations told Home Media Magazine.
Disney has already committed to BD-Live features on future Blu-ray titles.
