Arqiva has announced that it has been instrumental in Sky's transition from standard definition to high definition broadcast of key international speedway events.
While Arqiva has been working with Sky for nine years, this is the first time that a number of significant events have been filmed and aired in HD, thanks in part to demand from customers in Eastern Europe.
Already, the UK Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff and UK Speedway World Cup in Coventry were covered.
Michael Bass, Managing Director of Outside Broadcasts at Arqiva Satellite Media Solutions, said, "Speedway bikes accelerate as fast as Formula 1 cars and HD picture and sound perfectly captures all the atmosphere of this adrenalin fuelled sport.
"We're delighted to be able to extend our High Definition capability to Sky Speedway. Our fleet of HD equipped Outside Broadcasts trucks are ideally placed to support the growing demand for High Definition sports broadcasting. We are pleased to be able to provide Sky with the flexibility of both Standard Definition and High Definition facilities to best meet the developing expectations of their viewers."
