Sky has announced that it will be adding a second channel dedicated to the arts. Sky Arts 2 will air from 20th October, with Sky Arts HD broadcasting a range of content from the two channels (Sky Arts 1 and Sky Arts 2).
Highlights include:
- Suggs' Italian Job: an eight part series shot entirely in high definition in which the Madness frontman embarks on a cultural tour of Italy. Begins 21st October at 7pm (from Sky Arts 1).
- Art Rocks: uncovering the hidden artistic talents of Iggy Pop, Moby, George Clinton, Graham Nash and Dave Stewart. Begins 25th October at 8.30pm (from Sky Arts 1).
- The Book Show: Mariella Frostrup's essential round up of the literary world, from Thursday 23 October at 7pm (from Sky Arts 1).
- HD Metropolitan Operas: From Monday 20th October from Sky Arts 2, performances will include Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Tristan & Isolde, La Fille du Regiment, Peter Grimes, La Boheme, Hansel & Gretel, and Manon Lescaut.
- The Forgotten Painter - Edward Seago: A four-part high definition series by Selina Scott on the life and work of the late British painter. From 26th October at 7.30pm (From Sky Arts 2).
Sky Arts HD can currently be found on Sky channel 257, but this is due to change again in October.
