BeUnlimited, already providing 24Mbit broadband in selected cities across the country, has announced that it is to begin trials of a 40Mbit service.
It essentially involves a bit of cheating, because it relies on using two phone lines. "ADSL2+ bonding" combines those lines into a single router. The normal annoyances of broadband, including distance from the exchange crippling maximum speed, still apply, and of course it doubles the price.
Those interested in joining the trials need to contact Be (020 7479 5029) by this Friday. If confirmed, Be will assist in setting up the new lines from BT, and then you'll meet the team in a pub near their offices to get the free router. Sweet, eh?
I know this isn't directly related to high definition, but a 40Mbps line, at top speed, would allow you to stream high definition content from the Internet.
