Sony has introduced its latest all-in-one home audio and cinema system, the BDV-IT1000, comprising a fully featured Blu-ray player and 5.1-channel speaker system.
The speakers have been nicknamed "Pocky", which is a thin chocolate pretzel popular in Japanese. You've guessed it from the photo, these speakers are also incredibly thin.
Sony's compact full-range speaker drive-unit is 16mm wide, with three of each unit used in the front and centre speakers, and two in the rear. The rear speakers can also be wirelessly driven.
The main control unit contains the BD-Live enabled Blu-ray player with standard DVD upscaling capability. It's 24p compatible, has USB and Ethernet connections, handles Deep Colour and x.v.Colour, and decodes and plays Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
Punching out 700W of power, the amp features Sony's 32-bit Full Digital S-Master system.
As is common for Sony's audio systems now, there's auto calibration for setting up the system to match the room's acoustics, plus BRAVIA Sync, and XrossMediaBar on-screen user interface.
The unit also features a built-in analogue radio, music streaming from portable devices via the Digital Media Port, and Portable Audio Enhancer for rejuvenating compressed music files.
Availability and pricing to be confirmed.
