LG shows off autumn range of plasma screens: 32PG6000, PG6900, PG7000
At an event similar to the LCD TV range unveiling a couple of weeks ago, LG has shown off its autumn collection of new plasma TVs.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend this event, but George Mead again talked about the new products: the 32PG6000, PG6900, and PG7000.
The 32PG6000 is the world's first production 32 inch plasma. As George mentioned at the LCD show, LG has always been one of the few manufacturers to invest in both display technologies, and while other companies have avoided making a plasma TV this small, LG has seen a market for those who want the advantages that plasma has to offer but don't have the space for a larger screen.
It features 720p high definition, which is perfectly acceptable at this screen size, a contrast ratio of 30,000:1 and brightness of 1,500cd/m2, 100Hz technology, 16-bit colour, built-in Freeview tuner, 10W stereo speakers, full handling of a 1080p signal, and two HDMI inputs.
The PG6900 features dual digital tuners and 160GB hard drive for PVR functionality, and is available in both 42 and 50-inch screen sizes. It has a resolution suitable for 720p, but again at these sizes most users won't notice the difference. As per the 32PG6000, it boasts 30,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,500cd/m2, 100Hz, and two HDMI inputs.
Top-of-the-line PG7000 comes in 50 and 60-inch TVs, and is for the serious consumer. It's full 1080p, 30,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,500cd/m2, 100Hz technology, Dual XD Engine, video set-up "expert" mode, in-built DVR, two HDMIs, and Bluetooth.
All three models should be available during October.
